What Is Mass Save®?

Mass Save® offers Massachusetts home and business owners rebates on eligible furnaces, boilers, heat pumps, and water heaters, plus 0% interest HEAT loans to help fund energy-efficient upgrades.

The Mass Save® program is sponsored by several Massachusetts utility and energy efficiency providers, including Berkshire Gas, Cape Light Compact, Eversource, Liberty, National Grid, and Unitil. These providers work with the Department of Energy Resources to promote energy efficiency services in our communities.

History of Mass Save®

The Mass Save® initiative was established in 2008 to help Massachusetts achieve its energy efficiency goals. It is funded by energy efficiency fees on residents’ gas and electric bills and sponsored by large utility providers in our state.

Mass Save®’s no-cost home energy assessments are available to residents, and the program provides advice for reducing energy usage, rebates on qualified efficient systems, and other incentives that help residents decrease their energy use and utility bills.

The approval of the 2022–2024 Three-Year Energy Efficiency Plan by the Massachusetts Department of Public Utilities allocates $4 billion in energy efficiency incentives and enhances the Mass Save® structure to ensure funds maximize customer benefits and savings while improving energy efficiency across the state.
